As from the 1st of July 2013 Lithuania holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union for the coming half year. To pay special attention to the six months calendar of the Lithuanian Presidency, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’ in cooperation with the Embassy of Lithuania in The Hague will organise a public event on Monday 15 July 2013.

We are very pleased that H.E. Mr. Vytautas Leškevičius, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, will present the EU Presidency priorities. He will particularly focus on the EU’s instruments for imposing budget discipline, the creation of a Banking Union, implementation of the Internal Energy Market and the EU’s Eastern Partnership objectives.

Mr. Robert de Groot, Director-General for European cooperation of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs will give a reaction to the Lithuanian EU-agenda, also taking into account the above mentioned current issues.

After his reaction there will be room for discussion and questions.
