On 8-9 June 2017, the European Japan Advanced Research Network (EJARN) held its annual conference at Goethe University Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

In addition to paper presentations on Japanese politics, economy and foreign policy, this year’s conference addressed monetary policy in Japan and EU. Experts and practitioners from both Europe and Japan discussed the current state of monetary policy, central banking, fiscal policy, financial economics and economics in general.

Clingendael’s Maaike Okano-Heijmans, who is also a Board Member of EJARN, spoke in the panel on Economy and Business, discussing European and Japanese Responses to the EU-Asia Connectivity Drive: How to Stay Competitive in a New Era of Chinese State-Sponsored Capitalism.
