Security and Defence
On 14 and 15 March 2016 the Netherlands Institute of International Relations 'Clingendael', in cooperation with the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, held the Netherlands EU Presidency seminar entitled 'The parliamentary dimension of defence cooperation'.
Both our report and the animated introduction can now be viewed here.
The main theme during the seminar was the involvement of parliaments in European security and defence. High level speakers discussed the role of parliaments in strengthening CDSP and parliamentary decision-making on the deployment of rapid reaction forces.
In addition, broader political-strategic parliamentary commitment in relation to the Global Strategy process was on the agenda.
