Inleiding

In International Relations Theory liberalism is often presented as opposed to realism. Is Realpolitik really incompatible with liberalism?

The seminar will be held in English. Admittance is free. You can register per mail

On Friday 9 September 2016 the TeldersStichting  (Telders Foundation) organises a symposium on realistic foreign policy, during which politicians and academic experts will meet and discuss this topic. They explore how to combine a realistic -and thus effectiive- foreign policy with upholding and spreading liberal values as they are embodied in liberal political philosophy. The seminar is  also held in connection with the publication of the PS3 '10 vuistregels voor een realistisch buitenlands beleid' (Ten cardinal rules for a realistic foreign policy) by MP Han ten Broeke - previously published as article in the Internationale Spectator,

Mr. L.W.S.A.L.B. (Lousewies) van der Laan (former Dutch politician, currently member board of directors ICANN) will moderate the roundtable discussion.
