A group of diplomats coming from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan is being trained at Clingendael since the beginning of June. At the moment they are in Brussels to receive briefings on the policies of the European institutions and NATO. The goal of this programme, sponsored by the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs, is to support the democratic transition in these countries and the broader region. This is the third time that such a training is organised at the Clingendael Institute. The program combines lectures on various topics relevant for the region, working visits to international organisations, Dutch government agencies and civil society organisations and skills trainings and workshops. The 6-week training is highly intensive, with a lot of assignments and direct involvement of the participants.
Similar trainings will again be organised in November-December this year and in 2014. Diplomats from Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Jordan interested in attending such a training should contact their Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Dutch embassy in their country.
