Clingendael Academy delivered the sixth training course on the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Torture in Hanoi, Vietnam.
On 19 and 20 September, twenty-five officials and trainers from the Vietnamese Ministries of Public Security, Defense, and the Police Academies participated in the two-day workshop on curriculum development and investigative interviewing skills.
The techniques involved were aimed at acquiring the truth through suspect interviews, as opposed to interrogations which focus on extracting a confession.
The training was organised in collaboration with the Netherlands Police Academy and funded by the Netherlands Embassy in Hanoi.
