Security in the Sahel, CRU-ISS Meeting Report

On October 3rd, 2014, the Conflict Research Unit (CRU) of the Clingendael Institute organized an informal brainstorm meeting together with the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) on the current security issues in the Sahel region. The meeting was attended by representatives from the International Centre for Counter-terrorism (ICCT), the Human Security Collective (HSC), the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), the African Studies Centre of Leiden University (ASC), the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflicts (GPPAC) and the Broker Online.
 
The purpose of this meeting was to exchange ideas and perspectives from experts with different academic and professional backgrounds in order to improve the understanding of current security issues in the Sahel and more specifically in Mali.
