A week before the UK is due to leave the European Union, the Clingendael Institute brought together experts from the worlds of politics, journalism and thinktanks to discuss where we stand in the Brexit negotiations, and what will happen next. Will there be an extension? And if so, what kind? And how does this affect the prospects of reaching a Brexit deal? As news from a crucial European Council meeting comes in, we will explore its implications for the negotiations and assess dynamics in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and the European institutions.
