Ine Cottyn joined Clingendael’s Conflict Research Unit (CRU) as research fellow from March 2019-March 2020. In this capacity, she works on the relation between conflict and fragility, private sector development and migration in the Sahel region. 

Prior to becoming a research fellow at Clingendael, she worked as an academic researcher at Utrecht University. Ine has worked on a range of issues related to sustainable developments, with a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Previous research experience includes land governance, gender, small town development, CSR, second home tourism, rural transformation, migration and mobility. Field experience: Senegal (2010, 2018), South-Africa (2011, 2012), Rwanda (2013-2016), Cameroon (2015), Kenya (2017).

Ine holds a BA in anthropology, an MA in international development studies (human geography) and a PhD in Development Studies (Human Geography) from Utrecht University."
