Ine Cottyn joined Clingendael’s Conflict Research Unit (CRU) as research fellow in March 2019. In this capacity, she works on the relation between conflict and fragility, private sector development and migration in the Sahel region.

Prior to becoming a research fellow at Clingendael, she worked as an academic researcher at Utrecht University. Ine has worked on a range of issues related to sustainable developments, with a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Previous research experience includes land governance, gender, small town development, CSR, second home tourism, rural transformation, migration and mobility. Field experience: Senegal (2010, 2018), South-Africa (2011, 2012), Rwanda (2013-2016), Cameroon (2015), Kenya (2017).

Ine holds a BA in anthropology and an MA in international development studies (human geography) from Utrecht University.
