Recently, Clingendael celebrated the closing of the first edition of the Training Programme on Cooperation between the EU and the Indo-Pacific, with representatives from 19 countries across both regions. The three-week online course was designed around three core modules that examined the opportunities and challenges for deepening and widening cooperation between the two regions, thereby contributing for further understanding and strengthening the ties between EU member states and countries of the Indo-Pacific, with the Netherlands spearheading this endeavor. Within this broad aim, key elements of the training included:

  • Expert exchanges on key thematic modules: International Law and Security, Cyber and Economic Cooperation
  • Skills-based training on normative scenario building, creating a common vision and concrete steps for cooperation until 2031

The training made use of interactive online learning methods, including live sessions, self-paced group working elements, as well as innovative platforms to facilitate effective exchanges.
