Sanne Reitsma joined the Clingendael Institute as an intern in February 2021. During her internship, she developed and organised training programmes for foreign and Dutch diplomats and security sector officials, among others from the Indo-Pacific and the Central and Western African region. In September 2021, Sanne took on the role of Junior Academy Fellow. She coordinates and develops training programmes in diplomatic practice and mediation and works on the institutional capacity-building of humanitarian organisations.
Sanne holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations & International Organization from the University of Groningen. During her studies, she worked for the Dutch Red Cross as a regional coordinator and instructor in International Humanitarian Law and studied for a semester at the University of Warsaw. Sanne then continued her studies at the University of Haifa, Israel, where she is currently finalising her master’s degree in Peace & Conflict Management. In Haifa, she interned with an Arab-Jewish cultural centre, organising dialogue projects and cultural activities.
