Sanne Reitsma joined the Clingendael Institute in February 2021. She coordinates and develops training programmes for different audiences, such as diplomats, (insider) mediators, and humanitarian workers, with a focus on conflict resolution and peacebuilding, as well as International Humanitarian Law and the role of gender in peacebuilding. As part of the Clingendael Peace Negotiations Programme, she trains groups in conflict and mediators in negotiation and mediation skills.
Prior to joining Clingendael, Sanne worked for the Netherlands Red Cross as a regional coordinator and trainer in International Humanitarian Law. She also worked as a resource development assistant and facilitator at a dialogue institute, fostering understanding between groups in conflict through cultural activities. Sanne obtained her bachelor’s degree in International Relations & International Organization from the University of Groningen. She holds a master’s degree in Peace & Conflict Management, with a focus on the Middle East (cum laude), next to an additional certificate in mediation and peacebuilding.
