Marlies Rotshuizen started at Clingendael in March 2018, where she develops and provides Humanitarian Negotiation training.

Prior to joining the Clingendael Institute she was working in humanitarian response operations with among others the UNHCR, Terre des Hommes and Save the Children in the Middle East and Africa. She was involved in implementation of (child) protection and psychosocial support programs, training and coaching of staff, coordination and similar activities. Her most recent mission was for Save the Children in Ninewa, in Iraq. Marlies also worked in the Netherlands for the Ministry of Justice and the COA (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers).

Marlies holds a master degree in Public International Law from the Utrecht University, and a bachelor in Social Legal Services. She completed a course in International Human Rights Law at Nottingham University.
