Europe and the EU
Who will become the new allies of the Netherlands?
This public debate was organised by the Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV), the Netherlands Society for International Affairs (NGIZ), and the Clingendael Institute. The photo series of this event can be viewed here.
Topic of this debate was 'The European Union after Brexit. Who will become the new allies of the Netherlands?', following the publication of a recent report (in Dutch) by the AIV on 'Coalition-building after Brexit. Alliances for a European Union that modernises and protects'. The report was commissioned by the Dutch House of Representatives to inform the discussion on how the Netherlands should adapt to a post-Brexit EU.
The key recommendations of the advice can be found in this recent opinion-piece by Monika Sie Dhian Ho and Luuk van Middelaar, and in Clingendael Spectator: "Trilogy: shifting EU coalitions post-Brexit".
