Anne Bakker is a Research Fellow at the Security cluster of Clingendael Research. Her work focuses on European security and defence, particularly on the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).  She is involved in projects on defence cooperation models, the implications of the EU's Global Strategy for the CSDP and parliamentary involvement therein.

Anne holds an MA in European Studies (double degree) at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and the Georg-August Universität in Göttingen, where she graduated (cum laude) with a thesis on the EU foreign policy debate following the 2008 Russian-Georgian war. Previously she obtained a BA degree in American Studies. During her studies, she completed the MA programme of the Honours College of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and studied abroad in the United States and Germany. Prior to joining Clingendael, she worked as an intern for the Netherlands Atlantic Association.
