Hedwich van der Bij is a former Research Fellow at the Clingendael Institute. Her research at the Europe cluster is focused on European governance. In particular she studies the ambitions of the Commission Juncker, the balance between European institutions and the multi- and bilateral relations of member states in Europe. 

From 2013-2015 Hedwich worked as a public officer at the PvdA Eurodelegation, where she was enrolled with the communication of the members of the European Parliament for the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA). Furthermore she worked on European affairs as a trainee at the Wiardi Beckman Stichting and the Clingendael Institute.

Hedwich specialized on European affairs during the research master Modern History and International Relations and the Bachelor International Relations at the University of Groningen.
