Jan-Willem Pot joined the Clingendael Institute in June 2016 and works as a Training and Research Fellow at the Clingendael Academy. As Training and Research Fellow, he designs and coordinates diplomatic training programmes for Dutch and foreign professionals.
Prior to joining the Clingendael Institute, Jan-Willem worked at Oxfam Novib in the capacity of Project Management Specialist and Policy & Programme Officer, working on topics related to financing for development and socio-economic inequality. In addition, he gained experience working on topics related to social protection while working as Social Protection Development Trainee at development management consultancy BMB Mott MacDonald, gained local project management experience while working for a small American NGO in Ghana, and gained strong political analysis skills as Political Section Trainee at the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand.
Jan-Willem graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in International Relations, specializing in International Political Economy, from the University of Groningen. During his studies he interned for the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) at the Regional Office for Asia-Pacific in Bangkok. Jan-Willem also holds an Advanced Master in International Development from the Radboud University Nijmegen.
