International Expert Group advises Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga received a delegation of the International Expert Group on Clause 10 of the Peace Formula, led by Bob Deen, as part of a group of independent experts from India, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Japan.

The Clingendael Institute has been asked by Ukraine and a number of other countries to advise on how to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace. The expert delegation met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, senior figures from the presidential office, the intelligence community, Ukrainian experts and civil society.

The delegation provided advice by drawing on historical case studies and the experience of group members with peacebuilding and negotiations. They also discussed the results of the US elections and a number of topics on the regional and international agenda.

The minister briefed the experts on the latest results of work on the implementation of the Peace Formula, the holding of thematic conferences on its nine points in August-October, preparation of a joint peace framework, which is a prerequisite for holding the second Peace Summit. 

Representing on behalf of Clingendael were Bob Deen, Head of Clingendael's Security Unit and the Russia Eastern Europe Centre, Julia Westerveld-Soldatiuk, Senior Research Fellow and Izzy van Unen, Academy Programme Fellow.
