Until July 2017 Ernst Kuneman was a Research Assistant and involved in the sustainability research unit of the Clingendael Institute. His research focused on various sustainability issues, mostly related to energy and water, and their links to economic development, political stability and geopolitical change. He has co-written several policy briefs as well as a research report on the political economy of energy security and green growth in middle-income countries. His research furthermore focused on the relation between climate change and security.

Ernst holds a MSc in International Relations and a BSc Future Planet Studies from the University of Amsterdam. Prior to becoming a Project Assistant, he was an intern at Clingendael Research.
