Fen Osler Hampson is a Distinguished Fellow and Director of Global Security at the Centre for International Governance Innovation and Chancellor’s Professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University where he also received his A.M. degree.  He also holds an MSc. (Econ.) degree (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and a B.A. (Hon.) from the University of Toronto.  He is the past recipient of various awards and honors, including a Research & Writing Award from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and a Jennings Randolph Senior Fellowship from the United States Institute of Peace (a non-partisan, Congressionally-funded think tank) in Washington, D.C.   He has also been a fellow at the Belfer Center for Science & Technology at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He is the author or co-author of 10 books, co-editor of 26 volumes, and the author of more than a 100 articles and book chapters on international affairs.
