Goos Hofstee joined the Clingendael Institute as Training and Research Fellow in July 2017. At Clingendael Academy, she is the course coordinator for Clingendael’s training programmes on International Security. She specialises in (Middle East) politics and international relations. As a lecturer and trainer, her focus is on international politics and conflict analysis, strategic security policy, cyber security governance, and security sector development.

Before joining the Clingendael Institute, Goos worked at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to her work at the MFA, she worked as a journalist in the Middle East, and in London as a consultant on defence- and security policy issues.

Goos holds a BA in History from the University of Groningen, and graduated from Utrecht University with an MA in International Relations. She subsequently graduated from the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies), with an Msc in Middle East Politics. She is currently working towards a PhD, researching Al-Qaeda’s institutional evolvement in context of its rivalry with IS.
