Ingrid d'Hooghe is a Senior Associate Fellow at Clingendael and China strategy advisor on China Relations. She lectures and conducts research on China's foreign policy and diplomacy.
Before joining Clingendael (2001), she was an academic staff member at the Sinological Institute of Leiden University. She has worked as Policy Officer at the Netherlands Embassy in Beijing (1989-1991) and the Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC.(2005-2006). She graduated from Leiden University, the Netherlands, with a degree in Sinology, and studied Modern Chinese at Fudan University, Shanghai. She obtained a PhD in social sciences from the University of Antwerp on the topic of China's Public Diplomacy. She regularly publishes in national and international magazines and newspapers. From 2008-2014 she was co-editor of Discussion Papers in Diplomacy.
