Julia Soldatiuk-Westerveld is a Research Fellow at the EU & Global Affairs Unit of the Clingendael Institute. Her research is focused on contemporary politics, economic and security issues in Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on post-war reconstruction and security sector reforms in Ukraine and Ukraine’s EU-integration process. 

Julia holds MA in International Relations and Global Governance from the University of Groningen and MSc in Physical and Economic Geography from the T. Shevchenko University. Prior to joining Clingendael Julia worked for VNG International and PAX, advising national and local governments in Eastern Partnership countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia), Egypt, Turkey and Kosovo on topics ranging from support of the EU accession and decentralization reforms to post-conflict recovery, peace building, IDP management and strengthening civil society.
