Expertise: Mariana Gomes Neto is a Research Fellow at the Clingendael Institute. Her research currently focuses on the role of the European Parliament and the European economic crisis. More general, she has a specific interest in issues concerning international law, migration, asylum and refugees.
Prior to her arrival at Clingendael, she worked as a junior lecturer at the University of Leiden at the Europa Institute teaching European Law and as a legal officer at the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice focusing on asylum and refugee law. In 2012 she graduated with a Master in International Relations and in 2013 with a LLM specializing in European Law. During her studies she worked as a trainee for the EU and as an intern for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs .
