Martine van Mil is an Academy Programme Fellow at the Clingendael Institute. She joined Clingendael in August 2020. Her area of expertise is in the field of negotiation and mediation in conflict resolution and diplomatic practice.

Prior to joining the Clingendael Institute, Martine worked as a consultant for the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in Myanmar, where she supported Myanmar’s ongoing constitution building and peace process.

Martine holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden, and two Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science: International Relations and Organisations and in Public Administration from Leiden University. During her Masters, she also worked as a research assistant at the Department for Peace and Conflict Research for the project ‘Inequality and Insurgency in India’ for which she conducted field research in Northeast India and interned with CARE International in Rakhine State, Myanmar, to support rural development projects.
