Associates are experts in their own field and contractually affiliated with Clingendael.
Although associates are not employees of the Clingendael Institute, they comply with all policies that Clingendael staff do.

Maysam Behravesh is a Research Associate with Clingendael's Conflict Research Unit (CRU). He is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Lund University, Sweden. He was an intelligence analyst and foreign policy advisor in Tehran from 2008 to 2010 and has worked as a journalist and news editor in Iran and Britain.
Maysam has also served as an editorial team member at the academic quarterly Cooperation and Conflict (Editorial Assistant, 2013-2016), Asian Politics & Policy (Contributing Editor, 2011-2014) and E-International Relations (Iran Editor, 2011-2014). His research and writings center around Iran and Middle Eastern security. They have appeared in the Journal of International Relations and Development, Iranain Studies, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Reuters, CNN, BBC, Atlantic Council, Quincy Institute, and Middle East Institute among others.
