Omar joined the Clingendael Institute as an Academy Fellow in 2023. He is an expert on Economic Diplomacy & Development Cooperation, in particular on public infrastructure development, climate finance and project management. He is also experienced on working across different levels of government and multilateral development banks.
He currently works with diplomats, mediators, and other professionals involved in peacebuilding processes. Focussing on economic diplomacy as well as peace building and mediation.
Before joining the Clingendael Academy, Omar worked for 3 years as an Investment Manager in Public Infrastructure development at RVO and Invest International, leading multiple multimillion euro projects in South Asia, and helping manage other projects in the Middle East & Western Africa.
He holds an MSc in International Relations & Diplomacy from Leiden University/Clingendael and a Liberal Arts Bachelor across 5 different disciplines from University College Utrecht. During his studies, he also did internships at Clingendael and later the Netherlands Embassy to Bangladesh.
