Robert (Rob) Hendriks' work at Clingendael encompassed these issues, as well as Operations in the Land Domain, Joint Operations, Peace Support Operations, Command & Control, Decision Making Processes / Design / Planning on tactical and operational military levels. He focused on the necessary comprehensiveness of any approach to crises, as well as the feasibility of attaining effects with a chosen approach.
Prior to joining Clingendael, Hendriks performed in a wide diversity of active duty functions in the Armed Forces - both Army and Joint - as well as international postings. These include functions in the (Multinational) CIMIC Group North as international trainer on CIMIC, the Staff of 13th Mechanized Brigade as Section Chief, the Army Staff as Operational Auditor, and the Land Warfare Centre as developer and writer of high level doctrine for NATO, FINABEL, and the Netherlands’ Armed Forces.
Over the years he has been active in many of the mission areas of the Armed Forces. In 2014 he was the Chief of the Subject Matter Experts in Commander ISAF’s Advisory & Assistance Team in Afghanistan.
Rob Hendriks is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy of the Netherlands (1993), the Army Staff Course (2005), the Land Warfare Course of the Operational Training & Education Centre of the Army (2008), and the Advanced Command & Staff Course of the Netherlands’ Defence Academy (2009), the last education also resulting in an executive Master’s degree in Security and Defence (EMSD). He also completed numerous high level courses at NATO and at the UN on specific topics.
