Suzanne Damman started at Clingendael in September 2022 where she oversees the Clingendael Peace Negotiations Programme and related conflict resolution and mediation training projects.

Suzanne has over 15 years of experience coordinating and managing programs and staff in the humanitarian and conflict resolution field, mostly in Asia. Prior to joining the Clingendael Institute she was the Deputy Regional Director for Asia for the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), working to prevent and resolve armed conflicts through mediation, dialogue, and discreet diplomacy. Suzanne first started working for HD in 2007 at their headquarters in Geneva, and then returned to work for their field and regional offices in Asia in 2015.  Between 2011 and 2015 Suzanne worked for the Netherlands Red Cross, initially focusing on health and disaster-response programs in the Asia region from their headquarters in The Hague before moving to become their Programme Manager in the Philippines. She has also worked for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining.

Suzanne has an MA in International Relations from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and holds an MSc in Global Health from the University of Manchester’s Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute in the United Kingdom. She recently also completed a course on Women’s Leadership Development from the University of Oxford.
