Willemijn Tiekstra is a research assistant at the Clingendael Institute. Having a legal background, she focuses on migration, the implementation of European migration policies in particular. Topics falling within her mandate include: border management, Common European Asylum System Reforms and EU cooperation with third countries. Her work thus focuses on implementation of internal EU policies as well as EU external relations with African countries.
Willemijn is Master of Laws and has completed her Masters in International and European Law at the University of Groningen. Prior to working at the Clingendael Institute, Willemijn has worked as a Policy Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hague and at the Netherlands Embassy in Athens.
