About the Clingendael Monitor 2016

The Clingendael Monitor 2016 consists of a summary report ("Great Powers and Global Stability") and an in-depth study ("The EU as a security actor in Africa"). The Clingendael Monitor is published each year as part of the Strategic Monitor of the Dutch government.

The summary report looks at the role of Great Powers with regard to global stability. The in-depth study focuses on trend analysis of the European Union’s role as a security actor in Africa, and considers the use of all the policy instruments at the EU’s disposal. This study concentrates mainly on how the so-called ‘integrated approach’ is evolving, and what consequences this has for the Common Security and Defence Policy.
