On 1 January 2020 the Clingendael Institute, including the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), employed 103 people. The number of staff increased slightly from the 2019 level (99), but there was also a change in the number of foreign staff and interns. Clingendael employed people of eight different nationalities in 2019 (five European and three non-European). Interns were of 12 different nationalities (eight from Europe and four from outside Europe).

We are fortunate in continuing to attract a high-quality and high-quantity response to our vacancies. This resulted in 32 new hires for regular jobs, while a record of 45 university students from the Netherlands and abroad completed internships at the Institute in 2019. In 2018 we had 23 new hires and 37 interns.

Recruitment is primarily carried out through our website, our weekly newsletter and social media, as well as through all Clingendael staff and interns.

HR updated its Safety & Security protocol and training schedules in 2019. A large number of employees participated in the Safety & Security training and refresher courses, and general awareness has increased. Safety & Security awareness is now also part of the introduction programme. The Crisis Management Team receives annual training as part of the updated Safety & Security protocol.
