About the authors


Julia Soldatiuk-Westerveld is a Research Fellow at the EU and Global Affairs Unit of the Clingendael Institute. Her research is focused on contemporary politics, economic and security issues in Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on post-war reconstruction and reforms in Ukraine and Ukraine’s EU candidate status.

Bob Deen is Head of Security Unit and Coordinator of the Clingendael Russia and Eastern Europe Center (CREEC) at the Clingendael Institute.

Ate Lucien van Steenbergen is a Research Assistant at the Clingendael Russia and Eastern Europe Centre and the Security Unit of the Clingendael Institute. His research focuses predominantly on issues of politics, security and conflict in Eastern Europe.
