Introduction

Supported by the Science for Peace and Security Programme of NATO, the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague (ICCT), Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS), and the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael are organising a NATO Advanced Research Workshop titled ‘(Counter-) terrorism in the post-Arab Spring Context’. The event will take place on 6 and 7 October in Brussels, Belgium.

The meeting is designed as a closed roundtable expert-meeting, aimed at a high level of interactivity among all participants. It will bring together around 30 non-governmental experts, government officials and practitioners to analyse and discuss Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) strategies in the Arab region in the post-Arab Spring context. The workshop will devote particular attention to the case of Egypt and comparative practices in other Arab countries.

Although participation in the workshop is upon-invitation only, a few seats are open for experts on the topic who wish to participate in the discussion. For more information, please contact Mr. Sico van der Meer: svdmeer@clingendael.nl or Ms. Karlien Lismont: klismont@icct.nl
