Clingendael is a think tank and a diplomatic academy. We aim to contribute to a secure, sustainable and just world through our analyses, training and public debate. We work with partners across public and private sectors, including policymakers, members of the armed forces, diplomats, politicians and business executives.
The Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’ was founded in 1983. It is the result of a merger between five smaller institutes, all of which were active in the field of international relations.
Clingendael receives its funding from multiple sources. Our revenues are generated from commissioned training and research projects for clients in both private and public sector from all over the world. These include ministries, NGOs, international organisations, and academic institutions.
In its Annual Reports, the Clingendael Institute presents a yearly overview of its most important activities. The main text contains the highlights regarding our events, publications, seminars, and training programmes. All annual reports also inform you about relevant corporate developments, such as finances and personnel.
Through these Reports, Clingendael aims to reflect its objectives as a think tank, academy and platform for debate.
