During this first session in the series Future of Europe breakfast meetings the organisers were honoured to welcome Jeroen Dijsselbloem, former Dutch minister of Finance and former President of the Eurogroup/President of the Board of Governors of the European Stability Mechanism, as key note speaker.

Mr. Dijsselbloem has been at the heart of decisions driving the EMU forward. With renewed Franco-German momentum, and Britain’s impending departure from the EU, it is now particularly relevant to consider the EMU’s next steps. He shed his light on whether the Eurozone was out of the dangerzone and on what consequences this would have for Europe’s politics.

Clingendael Breakfast Meeting with Jeroen Dijsselbloem

Following mr. Dijsselbloem’s opening remarks, Philippe Legrain, visiting senior fellow at the LSE’s European Institute, acted as a respondent kicking off the roundtable discussion. All Future of Europe Breakfast Meetings are held under Chatham House Rule

This session was moderated by Rem Korteweg.
