Kosovo: five years of independence-achievements and challenges?
The Clingendael Institute is pleased to invite you to a public lecture delivered by H.E. Mr. Petrit Selimi, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, to be followed by a reaction by Mr. Jaap Werner, Director for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on the following subject: “Kosovo: five years of independence-achievements and challenges”
The Republic of Kosovo is the youngest European nation. It became independent on 17th of February 2008. In five years of its existence as a sovereign and independent country Kosovo has made monumental progress in the (state)nation-building process.
H.E. Mr. Petrit Selimi has been appointed in June 2011 as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Kosovo. He is also Member of the special State Commission on Religious Freedoms and has been appointed as National Coordinator for implementation of regional cooperation agreement with Serbia.
Mr. Jaap Werner is Director for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands since 2009 and appointed to be the next Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore, after the summer.
