China beyond its borders

Stichting Shilin was founded in 2010 by students of Leiden University’s China Studies department.The fourth biennial Rombouts-Shilin Conference will be held at Leiden University on the 5th and 6th of October 2019. This edition's topic will be “China beyond its borders”, covering China’s international relations from both a historical and a modern viewpoint. Keynote speeches, lectures, panels with MA and PhD students, workshops, and seminars will be held during the whole weekend. 

Workshop by Ingrid d'Hooghe

Ingrid d'Hooghe, Senior Associate Fellow of the Clingendael China Centre will be teaching a workshop at the conference. Ingrid lectures and conducts research on Chinese foreign policy and diplomacy. 

For whom? 

Are you a BA, MA or PhD student or are you just interested in China? Curated by a team of BA, MA and PhD students, this conference offers you a venue to hear about developments in your field of study from various specialists as well as to discover fellow students' work.

The conference is coupled with the award ceremony of the Young Scholars Awards on Saturday and Sunday, which will reward outstanding theses and followed by celebratory drinks and a dinner.
