On November 26 the Clingendael Institute, in cooperation with the British Embassy, organized an event with the British minister for Europe, Rt Hon David Lidington MP.

Addressing David Cameron’s recent statements about the future of the UK and the EU, Mr. Lidington gave a speech entitled  ‘the Flexibility of a Network, not the Rigidity of a Block – the UK’s EU Reform Plans’. Mr. Lidington explained the English stance on for instance labour migration and elaborated on the upcoming British referendum.

Following the speech there was room for a question & answer session, moderated by Clingendael expert Adriaan Schout . The event was concluded with a reception, where many were able to reflect further on Mr. Lidington’s speech.
