Implementing the EU-Japan Connectivity Partnership

In recent years, concerns have grown about the societal impact of disruptive technologies, the expanding clout of China’s Digital Silk Road, and the implications of the US-China tech conflict.

Long-term stability in Japan’s and Europe’s backyards depends on a more international strategy to defend both partners’ interests in the digital age. Focusing on digital connectivity and digital development cooperation as critical elements of this agenda will be instrumental.

The EU and Japan can benefit from cooperation and coordination in their efforts to address shared concerns and developmental challenges in third countries. Digital development cooperation entails efforts to assist developing countries and emerging economies to reap the benefits and address the challenges of the digital transformation.

This webinar seeks to contribute to the implementation of the 2019 EU-Japan Connectivity Agenda by promoting mutual understanding of current practices and joint action on digital development cooperation, specifically in the Indo-Pacific region and in Europe’s neighbouring region.

Policymakers and experts will discuss the feasibility and added value of coordinated action by Japan, the EU and its member states on digital development cooperation.

You are most welcome to ask your questions during the event.
