Expert workshop co-organised by Chatham House’s Middle East and North Africa Programme and Clingendael’s Conflict Research Unit on the drivers of conflict and peace in Yemen. The event is part of a broader Chatham House project on the ‘Future Dynamics in the Gulf’.
This two-day workshop analyses the underlying domestic, regional and international political economy drivers of conflict in Yemen; and discusses future policy options that address these issues. It will convene a broad range of well-known subject-matter experts from Yemen, the Gulf, Europe and more widely to ensure a wide variety of perspectives and to enable an in-depth discussion of the current state of affairs. On the second day, a scenario-planning approach will be used to develop more hands-on policy and programming options against three possible future ‘end-states’ of the present conflict, namely: “Imperfect Peace”, “Continued Quagmire” and “Regional Fragmentation”.
The discussion is being held under the Chatham House Rule.
