Clingendael Academy contributes to EU–Indonesia Cyber Crisis Communication Workshop
Clingendael Academy is proud to have contributed to the recent EU–Indonesia Workshop on Communication Response to Cybersecurity Incidents in Bandung, co-organised by the European Union delegation, Indonesia’s National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), ESIWA+, and Expertise France.
We are grateful for the excellent collaboration with these partners, as well as the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands during this event. The engagement and expertise of cyber experts from the private sector, and researchers on crisis communication greatly enriched the programme.
The workshop brought together 26 participants from several Indonesian government institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, among others.
A highlight of the programme was the innovative digital ‘escape room’ simulation, designed to test both crisis management and communication skills of the participants during a cyber crisis. For the first time, this tailor-made simulation uniquely combined the challenges of cyber attribution and diplomatic responses with crisis communication and management in the Indonesian context. This placed the Indonesian participants under realistic time pressure in crisis management teams to manage an escalating cyber crisis.
We sincerely thank all participants for their active engagement and valuable input, which made the event a true success. Clingendael Academy wishes all participants the very best in their future careers.
