Clingendael Academy hosts WTO trainees
28 Jun 2013 - 15:54

From 1 - 5 July, Clingendael Academy organizes the training programme Policy Development and Trends in International Trade for fifteen trainees of the World Trade Organization (WTO). All participants are enrolled in an eight-months trainee programme at the WTO in Geneva. Half-way, after four months at the WTO, they pay a visit to Clingendael for a specialized course in trends in international trade and policy planning.

The Academy is looking forward to host this group of trainees, especially because of the diversity among the participants: they come from fifteen different countries, covering three continents.

This tailor-made course has two purposes: to enhance both knowledge and skills. The programme offers a range of interesting expert lectures on international trade and development cooperation. Equally important, the participants will be involved in an interactive assignment,  whereby they will visit a number of Dutch organizations to discuss the role of the private sector in government policy planning.

Another interesting part of our busy schedule is a working visit to the Port of Rotterdam on 3 July, where the group will experience first-handed the practicalities of international trade.
