Conflict Analysis training for Civilian Crisis Management Staff
18 Jun 2014 - 09:06

From 9-12 June, the Clingendael Academy cooperated with International Alert in a training on Conflict Analysis for a group of civilian crisis management personnel.  Participants were currently working in EU missions around the world such as Kosovo, Georgia, Libya and Afghanistan.

International Alert is a leading organisation in research on the root causes of conflict in fragile states and in addressing key issues that affect lasting peace and stability in high-risk places. This training course was a first time cooperation in training between International Alert and Clingendael Academy, as partners within the European consortium of training institutes (ENTRi network).

Preparing for EU missions

The ENTRi network of which Clingendael is a member since the beginning, is a unique capacity-building programme funded by the European Commission that was initiated in early 2011. The main focus lies on the preparation and training of civilians that are either going to, or already working in, civilian crisis management missions worldwide.

Besides this training course in Conflict Analysis, the Clingendael Academy further offers the following courses in the framework of ENTRi: Negotiation and Mediation in November; Pre-deployment Mali in October, together with the Egmont Institute.  Registration for these training courses via the ENTRi website or through your national focal point for crisis management missions.
