On 17, 18 and 19 June, Clingendael provided an EU-training for the Dutch Educational Institution – the DUO. On the third and last day of the programme, the group paid a working visit to Brussels. The meetings with several EU officials provided the participants insight into the EU context of their daily work. “I never realized the huge influence of EU regulations on my work at DUO.”

Other important learning outcomes of the three-day training programme were gained / acquired knowledge of recent EU policy areas in the field of education, comprehension of the EU policymaking process, and ideas to deal with EU issues in their organization more effectively. Guest lectures were provided by Dr. Ton van de Brink (European Institute at Utrecht University), Joop Nijssen (DIE, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Jolanda Terpstra (RDW, Ministry Infrastructure and Environment), among many others. The training had a large interactive component, due to an interview carrousel , a networking lunch, and customized assignments.
