Clingendael Academy hosted the Ambassadors of the Women Ambassador Network in The Hague and Women Directors of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a two-day training on international negotiating skills.  During the lively sessions, we discussed core principles and strategic concepts, and critical factors to be successful in negotiations, compiled an individual profile on preferable styles and practised exercises and simulations.

One of the core elements of the training focused on psychological processes in general and specific individual reactions to negotiation and mediation situations. The seminar was concluded with a multiparty simulation on inclusivity in peace negotiations and practising several models of the inclusion of women and civil society groups in peace negotiations. The training was delivered by Mr Ron Ton, Director of Clingendael Academy, an expert in Negotiations and Mediation.
