Florence Geelen joined the Clingendael Institute as Personal Assistant to the Academy Director of the Clingendael Institute, Martijn Pluim, where she provides strategic support. In this role, she focuses on substantive policy matters, conducts research, and contributes to high-level policy advice.

In addition to her role as Personal Assistant, Florence is a Fellow at the Clingendael Academy. In this capacity, she develops, coordinates, and implements a variety of training programmes tailored to diverse audiences, including diplomats from different regions. She previously worked at the Institute as an Academy intern and at Project Support. Prior to starting in 2026, Florence worked at Amnesty International on migration and human rights.

Florence holds a Cum Laude MA International Relations, focusing on East Asian Studies, from the University of Groningen. Prior, Florence completed a BA in International Relations and International Organizations in Groningen, as well as a BA in Philosophy of Economic and Social Sciences. During her studies she engaged in exchange programmes in Oxford (UK), Stellenbosch (South Africa), and Osaka University (Japan).
