Netherlands-Indonesia Relations: The Global Context

On 29 August, 2006 the Clingendael Institute had the honour of welcoming H.E. Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Dr. Wirajuda visited our Institute as part of a two day-stay in The Netherlands, during which he had several meetings with members of the Dutch government and other official representatives.
Dr. Wirajuda has a PhD in international law from the Harvard University School of Law and joined the Indonesian Civil Service in 1974. He is Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2004,
a position he also held from 2001 - 2004. Dr. Wirajuda also held various positions both in national and international fora as official representative of his country.
Dr. Wirajuda presented a lecture regarding the foreign policy of the new Indonesia, the relation between Indonesia and the Netherlands, and current international issues.
