An opportunity for closer EU-China cooperation

09 Oct 2012 - 15:54

In this new publication to the Clingendael Asia Forum, Zhang Haibing (Institute for World Economic Studies at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies) pleads for a closer cooperation between the EU and China now that the euro zone's debt crisis has brought about some serious long term and short term risks for the EU and it's economy. The EU is in need of greater integration and, according to Zhang, China is willing and able to assist in this process. She argues that the EU and China should work on the issues that impede bilateral economic cooperation and focus in particular on ways to increase the inflow of Chinese direct investment into Europe.
