Hydrogen inception mission for professionals from Algeria, Egypt, Kuwait and Morocco
Clingendael Academy recently concluded the first mission on the development of (green) hydrogen ecosystems for professionals from Algeria, Egypt, Kuwait and Morocco. This inception mission aimed at empowering the participants with the knowledge and skills to formulate and implement effective policies of an integral and multi-sectoral transition towards (green) hydrogen, and to offer a valuable network of peers within the region and with the Netherlands.
Within the one-week programme, the participants engaged with multiple key hydrogen experts from the Netherlands. The programme also featured lectures on public-private-partnerships and the Global & European Hydrogen Market, and a workshop on circular opportunities within the world of hydrogen.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, the programme emphasised real-world perspectives. Site visits to the Port of Rotterdam, TNO, and the Port of Amsterdam gave participants first-hand insights into hydrogen infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and the strategic vision of key Dutch stakeholders. These experiences deepened their understanding of the Netherlands' and the EU’s hydrogen ambitions and highlighted future opportunities in the field.
Participants built valuable networks within their countries, across the region, and with the Netherlands. They engaged with Dutch experts on industrial hydrogen use through an interview carousel and a panel discussion on scaling the hydrogen economy. In teams, they developed visions for their national hydrogen strategies and the paths to achieve them.
Clingendael Academy is proud to have completed the first edition of this hydrogen mission with the MENA region. We look forward to strengthening energy ties between Europe and MENA, and supporting shared efforts towards stability, prosperity, and cooperation.
We wish all participants success in their future endeavours.
