New governance model International Centre for Counter-Terrorism
01 Apr 2021 - 07:00

The International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) is an independent knowledge centre on counter-terrorism and preventing/countering violent extremism, with a special focus on human rights and the rule of law. ICCT was founded in 2010 as a project-based collaboration between three Dutch institutions: Stichting Nederlands Instituut voor Internationale Betrekkingen 'Clingendael'; the T.M.C. Asser Instituut; and the University of Leiden’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA).

As of April 2021, ICCT will continue its mission as a new legal entity. All staff and projects connected to ICCT are in the process of transitioning to this new legal entity. Therefore, the newly independent ICCT joins the global CT and P/CVE community as a mature brand with a clear vision and strategy, world-class experts and robust track record of impactful work. The independent ICCT will benefit from an even closer partnership with the T.M.C. Asser Institute and University of Leiden’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA), and will continue its cooperation with Clingendael as a preferred partner.
